I wept for the world today,
And it’s state of disrepair.
It’s apathetic inhabitants,
Too disconnected to care.
Not seeing the brutality
In which they’ve all partaken,
Showing us just how much
Humanity has been forsaken.
Each tear had a purpose
A method for it’s madness,
Solemnly speaking their piece
In the wake of such sadness.
And in this state, I fear the fate
That we are moving toward
A fate that means to separate
Justice from her sword.
And once she has been disarmed
By those who would disrupt her,
She can no longer protect us
From this callous corrupter!

I wept for the world today
And it’s victims who lay broken,
Unable now to hear the truth
No matter how it’s spoken.
And all the reckless residents
Who wander like the lost,
Thinking they are avoiding
Ever paying the cost.
Each tear had a message,
Each held there by a word,
Whose power could set us free
If they were ever heard.
And in this state, I grow irrate
With what we’re heading toward,
The mindless march to our fate
By the hapless horde.
On they trudge, with bitter grudge,
But without qualm or question.
Eyes and minds clipped and closed
Following the fear’s suggestion!

There’s something wrong with the world today,
We all know what it is.
We’ve seen through it’s disguise.
And we cannot make it go away
By taking what it gives
And turning a blind eye!

I wept for the world today
And all the lies it’s telling.
And all the systems of dominance
Society is selling.
All it’s misguided misfits
And their mischief’s final toll,
Playing by rules established
Within these networks of control.
Each tear told a story
And each honored it’s ward.
But in the end, it did not matter
For each one was ignored.
And in this state, I see the fate,
We have, all but, embraced,
I know the hour’s far too late
For this end to be erased.
And so I weep, before we reap
The seeds that we have sewn
Knowing for this harvest
We won’t be able to atone!

There’s something wrong with the world today,
We all know that it’s true,
It’s right there before our eyes.
We see it each and every day,
Just like it’s nothing new,
It never comes as a surprise.

There’s something wrong with the world today,
We all know what it is.
We’ve played into it’s guise.
We’re puppets in our own sad way
It’s hypocrisy, it lives,
Within each of our lies!

I wept for the world today…
